Sometimes the smallest things mean the most….

Only the very eagle-eyed amongst our followers and supporters will have noticed we have added the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Wellbeing Charter logo to our affiliates. Why is such a small change blog-worthy?

Oyster Outcomes is a member of The Chamber, and as such is able to align itself with the Charter and its key principles. These include: Committing to providing an environment for our employees (and Associates), to thrive in and encourage those who are struggling to speak up and seek help; We will treat those experiencing mental illness as we would with someone with a physical illness, in terms of support, time off, and a supportive return to work, and; We will be a learning organisation, establishing learning relationships with other organisations and sharing what we have learned.

We would encourage all organisations, be they members of The Chamber or not, to consider these principles in light of their own organisation, and assess ability to take on some or all of those well formed principles.

We believe the Oyster Outcomes brand values are closely aligned with these principles, and the way in which we conduct ourselves and our business makes this move, a small but very significant step for our company.

Our interaction with the Chamber and fellow members continues to flourish, and we have been really encouraged by the willingness of other members, even ‘competitors’ to share and support other businesses. Future opportunities are forthcoming to share our professional input into the debate, which in turn will help to create a movement of positive support towards mental health awareness and wellbeing. This has recently included taking part in a panel discussion with Windsor & Maidenhead MP, the Rt Hon Theresa May, which explored ‘The role of the compassionate leader’.

We are proud to be associated with this strategy, and continue to be involved in The Chamber’s work. In our own small way, we are making ripples in the water of a very wide and large topic – something which affects so many people in so many different ways across the world, every single day.
